So Abstract Influence just had a birthday w00t!

We've had an increased number of online users at one time move up quite frequently, especially in the past 6 months.

Abstract has even been featured in printed magazines HOO-RAH!

But there is something that i'm curious about. I notice it ALL the time. There are always members online, some that have been members as long as 2005, that have ZERO post.

Why are they not posting, do we intimidate them? Are majority of them non native english speakers and shy? How can we fix this issue to better abstract and continue dominating and moving up farther and become even more successful than we already are?

Thanks and I agree.

My guess is a lot of people use Stock Photos from our site, they need to register in order to gain access to them. So a lot of people are just using that service not the forums.

I have debated weather I should some how set a rule so they have to have a post count equal to something in order to view images. But I'm still not convinced yet. Perhaps, if I find a good way of doing it, I could test it for like a week to see if anything good comes from it. The biggest problem I see is people just spamming in order to get access to photos. Even though we all sort of joke and spam around, I could see it being possibly a problem.

I think that putting a 'number of post you have to have' b4 being able to view the images is a dumb idea. It has it's good points but overall it would be bad, for instance a new designers to this forums, wants to upload his designs to display and have a grpahics battle... but he cant because he doesnt have 50 post yet. You know what i mean...

But what i'm wondering is if any of you guys have any ideas of how to attract those people 'that may or may not just be using the stock photos' onto the forum. To welcome them into the community instead of just leaching :-P

That is the question. Just how do you do a thing like that?

Maybe do some advertising?

I like abstract more than any other graphics forum i have ever been to for several reasons. One, most the people are genuinely nice guys without transparent facades. Two, there are people of every skill level, from the filter whores, to the Professional designers and everything in between. Three, there are no ads on the site, anywhere! Four, there isn't any paid advertisement anywhere yet the community thrives. Five, i like the sexual gratification cone gives me when he fondels my undercarriage.

I dont know what type of advertising you meant, elaborate if you will.

Maybe just a block of text under each design and or photo 'MEET THE PHOTOGRAPHER/DESIGNER, REQUEST MORE PHOTOS LIKE THIS, UNDERSTANDING THE IMAGE' stuff like that under each photo or design, and it redirects to the forum, or if you can code it, to the most recent post that member posted. Get them involved with the forum because 'they are intrigued' Something of that sort, i dunno. What do u think?

That's actually not a bad idea. Different from what I was thinking though... I just meant trying to advertise on different sites to draw more people in. As I have said before, I have never spent money on advertising so the people we do get are from search results and or word of mouth.

Keep the ideas coming guys!

Just wanted to point out again, at this very moment there are 7 registered members online. None of them have ever made a single post ;)
