What do you guys think about companies that offer lifetime hosting?

Lifetime hosting? Are you talking about web hosting?

To me it seems kind of far fetched, I don't know how anyone can make a promise like that. I guess I would just be skeptical of it.

Yeah, that's where i'm sitting right now. I know a few people that use a particular hosting company that is 'lifetime hosting' for like $250 dollars one time and $10 yearly maintenance.

Funny thing about that, is i was reading over the site, and the owner of that company publicly states that he is offering the hosting thru a re-seller account he has with another company giving him lifetime hosting.

It would be fantastic if i could trust it to last for a good time period, at least long enough to have paid it's self off, i'm just uneasy about shelling out that kind of money for something that seems so far-fetched.

Exactly my feeling about the whole thing. Not sure if I could really trust that. I'm with ya on this one. ;)

I'm currently using a provider who offers lifetime hosting. I've used him for the last 4 years so far without too many issues. I figure, even if this guy shuts down his operation in the next year or so, i'll still have gotten a good deal... but i'm sure he regrets taking me on as a client at times because i'm always buggin him about something. A question about this or that or asking if we could implement a feature in the control panel and such.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I mean, you are paying for the support.

5 years down the line you'll probably get a lot more for your money (bandwidth and hdd space allocation) wouldnt you be better off paying anually and moving with the times?

Exactly, memory continues to get cheaper and cheaper. Good point.
