Hi - Ive been using photoshop 7 for ages and all of a sudden I was getting an error on startup saying apphelp.dll was missing and then it just closes, Ive reinstalled a few times and even tried a cs2 tryout but the same error occurs...

Next step. I downloaded apphelp.dll and put it where it should be - Now when ps opens i dont get the error it just all of a sudden closes before it fully starts...

Does anyone have any ideas? Im really not in the position for format and reinstall windows :(

CHeers.
Brendan

I wonder if you put in the Photoshop CD if there is a repair option. You may want to try that. That or just install Photoshop CS2. :)

It's something with the register I think, so if you install another PS, you got the same prob.

uninstall it fully and remove its directory then try reinstalling it again, check your cd for scratches too.

Yeah, if you fully uninstall it, then reinstall it, I don't think you'll have any problems.

ok i fixed it - when loading if you hold alt control and shift you get the option to clear your profile, I did that and it worked first time.
