Apple reviled some new software updates today at WWDC as well as some completely new features. Many tech websites have been circling around rumors of a new cloud service from Apple for the past few months. Here are some of the major bullet points of what is to come.

    * iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches can all sync with iCloud. Content is uploaded, downloaded and pushed to all of your devices automatically.
    * A purchased song on one device can be downloaded to up to 10 other devices for free.
    * iCloud will store the last 1,000 photos you take. If you want to keep it forever you can place it into an album.
    * Mail, documents and backups are limited to 5GB of storage. Songs, Photos and Apps don’t count against your 5GB.
    * iCloud is free. MobileMe no longer exists.

OS X Lion
    * OS X Lion aims to mesh current OS X with iOS features. A lot of multi-touch gestures. Full screen apps. New way of handling multiple windows/apps that are open at the same time.
    * Autosave feature will save your work automatically, even if you close without saving.
    * AirDrop is a peer-to-peer WiFi based file sharing system that will make transferring files between Macs fast and easy. Aims to replace using a thumbdrive to transfer files from one to another. Auto-discovery of computers on the same WiFi network. The file recipient will get a prompt for them to accept or deny the transfer. Fully encrypted.
    * Mail has some new features. The big ones are conversation view and smarter search options.
    * It will be disc free. 4GB download from Mac App Store. No reboots. Costs $29.99 and can be used on all authorized Macs. Note, you may need Snow Leopard first before installing Lion.

iOS 5
    * New notification center. Instead of popup system there will be a notification center similar to Android. The notification center is on your lock screen along. You can see notifications from apps, messages, and listen to voice mail without having to slide to unlock the iPhone.
    * Newstand is a new subscription based application that has a bunch of newspapers and magazine companies. Allows you to automatically download the latest issue.
    * Twitter integration is all over iOS 5. A new Tweet option is added all over allowing you to post photos, maps, articles and attachments to a new Tweet.
    * Safari has been improved. A new reader list feature allows you to save a certain webpage to view later without saving it as a bookmark. It will now feature tabs instead of the old tiled windows to navigation between multiple sites that are open.
    * Split keyboard. Moving the keyboard up breaks it in half and put each side of it on the side of the device. So there will be two floating keyboards on each side allowing you to use your thumbs while holding the device firmly in your hands, handy especially for the iPad.
    * Updates are Over-The-Air. No need to sync to computer with a cable. Updates will be delta, so only things that change will be in the update, thus keeping the updates small in file size and not eat up your capped data plan.
    * Wireless sync with iTunes. Although with OTA updates, you can now ditch the cable (other than charging) and sync music, photos, etc without having to connect up to your computer.
    * iMessage app. It allows you to instant message to any iDevice (iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad). The app allows you and your friends to instant message one another for free, from anywhere in the world, without roaming charges. Works with WiFi or 3G. You can see if they have opened or read the message as well as see when they are typing a message back to you as you would except from most Instant Messengers.
