Awesome. Good work, it's nice to see you are still fractaling it up. What program did you use to make this?

The main 'tear drop' shape of the fractal was made in apophysis. the rest was done in pshop. I kinda want to get rid of some of the white, but even with levels I can't get them to tone down the way i want it.

Oh, that's cool. I have never heard of apophysis before.

really? almost every fractal brush is made from apophysis, specially flame/whip fractals

How long does it take to render these?

all depends on the resolution. Which is dependant on the fractal. some fractals look great at 400 ppi and some need 4000 ppi. these two are both 4k ppi, the difference are the top one i rendered at 4k ppi 2560 x 2048 with 2 oversamples (renders it twice and overlays the result) which took around 13 hours. the bottom one was 4k ppi 1024 x 768 with 1 oversample which took about 2 hrs.

the complexity of the design makes a big difference as well.

this one here just finished rendering and i don't really want to do any post work on it. here's the render output:

--- Rendering "Apo3D-110421-1011.png"" ---
Size: 2048x1644
Quality: 4000
Oversample: 2, Filter: 0.4
Buffer depth: 48-bit integer
Memory limit: 0 MB
2:19:40 PM : Allocating 311.98 Mb of memory...
2:19:41 PM : Rendering...
4:35:47 PM : Creating image...
4:36:08 PM : Saving image...
Average speed: 1,669,157.44 iterations per second
Pure rendering time: 2 hour(s) 16 minute(s) 6.14 second(s)
Total time: 2 hour(s) 16 minute(s) 27.95 second(s)

50k ppi, 16.5 hrs rendering time. it looks blocky but it's not, they are in fact endless fractals, I'll post the larger original later on so you can see it. this one is about 5-10% of the size of the original.

some minor post work, mainly difference clouds to help the colors pop, and some bluring to hide some of the pixelation from the gradient.

hahahaha i can't upload it, it's too large xD

Yeah, some do look blocky but now I know why. Pretty crazy resolutions there.

a little bit, I did some minor post work to that previous fractal, mostly bluring by hand to remove some of the 'graininess' left behind by the color algorithm. But I just finished enlisting in the airforce, so I don't really have much time to dedicate to photoshop anymore. the fractals take me long enough lol.

feel free to play with any of them in pshop or what ever, just post it on this site so i can see what you've done with it ^^
