one thing that i recomend is you use the full image for thumbnails, its kinda anoying when you only have a little bit to look at, or at least a smaller than 1:1 scale bit..

make sense?

Hmm, I guess it would have to depend on how to page is layed out... If I had a ton of volleys on one page, using to full sized pic will waste a lot of un-needed bandwidth, plus it would take a year for a 56ker to view. However, if it is set up to where maybe a battle or two are showing at once, then I'm all for that...

Br3n, any layouts for me? ;)

you could have one thumbnail including part of one of the volleys, then underneath just say which battle and then it opens a popup or a new window with all the volleys.

sorda similar to http://www.shriek.nl/v4/pages/main.html or cone's site too i think.

nice idea, just make sure pst.NET isnt filled with grammar errors. seriously, that site was awful when it came to that.

also, i think we should probably feature the entire battle on pst.NET, not link to it. what are you guys' thoughts?

Okay, here is the first public look at the site layout/design. Tell me what you think, how I can make it better, I am open to ANYTHING...

http://www.abstractinfluence.com/images/pstennisbeta1.jpg

And please, any help on the general layout of any page, but especially matches, would be awesome!

I'm digging the header but I think the nav needs work and the features are not doing anything for me. I don't see any reason for the boxes there, and it just seems plain. I think it would help if you plopped some content in there and messed around with it.

I agree, any ideas the for nav anyone?

the thing I dont understand about CGinsider is that allthough it obviously aimed at people that like graphics, photography etc etc... its such a small canvass and the images are also really small...

with, In my opinion ugly navigation and a very ugly boarder.

OK this is the kind of thing I would suggest. Layout wise, Simple repeatable colours/graphics so load times are slow, a Large viewing space and large graphic previews so you get an idea of what your going to be looking at rather than a tiny bit of the image which could be anything.

Image

Link to image

And I was thinking, Once you click on a graphic, you get other options too, Such as - The battle its from (obviously), Information about the artist, Resources from the artist?, Interviews with the artist, that sort of thing..

It needs to be more than you could get if you just watched the battle on a forum.. and I think ive said it before but if you could sperate it from abstractinfluence... take the best battles, from the best forums to start with so people get WOW'ed instantly.. and go from there.

I havent allowed any space for advertising. Not sure if you wanna do that yet or once its been up a while and you have some stats for anyone interested.. but thats up to you..

hope that helps.
Brendan

Wow, great layout, great input from you br3n... Thanks for this great start... Some of the colors though wouldn't fit well with what I've got so far, but the layout is awesome...
