OK so skates given me the go ahead to do this post.
basically going on the theory that if it doesnt work, we loose nothing so we may as well go guns blazing and create something funktastic

Just wanna gather info on what you want, How it should be presented etc etc..

At the moment, Im thinking

- Tutorials

- Wallpapers

- Stock Photos (a selection of faves or something)

- Battle Focus (Pick a battle, comments etc)

- Interviews?

- How was it made? (could get a graphic, and speak to the artist about how it was made? something cool, like a tute but less detail?)

- Brushes

- Features? sites we like, shit like that

- Most importantly. Links to AI :D

As for presenting it, I personally cba to read .pdf magazines but thats just me - I think perhaps a subsite, nicely made but with focus on content? (large viewing space)

Its all ideas atm, so contribute!!!!1111

Im sure if you skipped thru DA or Computerlove you could get some really cool designers to comment on their work/jobs/life

and allthough I think blogs are actually so gay they run around fucking other blogs in the ass...

it could be cool to have a day in the life of section, kinda like we had on the forum as that turned out to be a kinda cool read (no, blogs are still gay....) perhaps with some photos or something to go with, who knows.

formed together to create

the G (graphics) Team

Mr grumpy (old and wise)
TS7 (Number in name = godlike)

if its HTML it will just be like alot of the other news crap I get sent and dont read. Although it may take more time if you do it in Flash I bet more people (granted their on broadband, which almost all of the target would be) will read it.

i like the idea of doing it in flash, and i'm pretty sure we could do it. the hardest part in my opinion, would be making it look good and keeping the loading time low.

i think we got a good thing going here.
The ideas in the first post are all good. I was saying before (in another thread) that it can't just be a newsletter (duh, this is what is going on at our site.....you know, if you came to the site you already know this stuff, duuuuuhh)

DELETE!!!! add to junk list!!!

the ideas in the first post are the addition to keep people reading. I get photoshop tips email every day. I read it like once a week, but i save them all, because IT'S GOOD STUFF!!!

the brushes idea is good. Featured battle good, although that kind of thing depends on the people here...interviews would be better, and would definitely improve as time goes on, and you get your stock questions going. Just a little something for people to look forward to every month/quarter/whatever.

as for Flash/HTML/etc.
I've never sent flash in an email. HTML is bad enough..a lot of people block that stuff. I limit it myself. a simple text email that gives a summary or short description of what's in the newsletter but links to a page published on the site is better IMO. it gets people interested, gets it into their inbox, and gets people to the site. 3 points ++ for us.

i dont think it needs to flash, that would just be much work html will work just as good it just wont be as animated, you can still have roll overs and such

couldnt you have small bits in flash on a html based page ??
and for each one you sohould give a member a task of taking a collection of photos based on a certain thing
